Microneedling

Everyone is falling in love with the results! It is safe, minimally invasive with little to no downtime, and helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. The outcome is beautiful, youthful-looking skin.

Microneedling is trending, and for a good reason.

Microneedling comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound-healing process. This process results in skin remodelling and repairing the injured tissue. Producing organised, healthy dermal tissue, including Collagen and Elastin.

How does it work?

Micro-needling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimise the signs of ageing and scarring. The Dermapen micro-needling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound-healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodelling of the tissue, stopping, and reversing ageing and scarring concerns.

Is there any downtime?

There is a short period of downtime. You will experience some redness initially for the first 48hrs and dryness for anything up to 10 days.

POST TREATMENT

You should avoid touching the area or applying any products to the skin for 12 hours to prevent infection. The treatment area can be red and warm for 24 to 48 hours post treatment but most patients see a reduction in erythema after 24 hours of treatment. Specific post-treatment instructions will be given to you by your aesthetic practitioner.

How many Sessions are recommended?

SkinPen micro-needling sessions are usually spaced four to six weeks apart. Sessions are spaced at least one month apart because it can take anywhere from four to six weeks for the full results of treatment to be realised. This is if you’re treating a specific concern, if you’re wanting to keep skin healthy and maintain skin health, you can have this treatment every 3 months. The recommendation for dermapen micro-needling is anything between 3-6 sessions but each case varies on what concern you’re treating.
